Neuropsychological & Psychological Testing

A Clearer Understanding of How Your Mind Works

If you’re here, you may be wondering why you or a loved one has such a hard time focusing, wondering if symptoms you or your child are experiencing are related to anxiety or something else, why school (or work) seems to feel harder than it should, what’s actually going on, and what would help. Psychological, Neuropsychological, and Psychoeducational testing is a way to answer those questions with clarity.

At Beacon Hill Therapy, we provide thoughtful, high-quality neuropsychological testing in Boston designed to help you understand how you think, learn, and function, so you can move forward with confidence. Just as importantly, we make sure the entire process (and your results) are clear, understandable, and genuinely useful.

What is testing?

1

Testing is a structured, collaborative process that helps us understand how your brain is working across areas like:

  • Attention and focus

  • Memory

  • Organization and decision-making

  • Learning and academic skills

  • Mood and emotional functioning

It typically involves a combination of:

  • Conversation (to understand your experience)

  • Questionnaires or rating scales

  • Structured tasks that look like puzzles, memory exercises, or problem-solving activities

There are no “pass” or “fail” results.

Instead, testing helps identify your strengths, your challenges, and how they fit together.

What do you actually get from testing?

2

People often come in looking for answers. What they leave with is something more meaningful:

  • A clear understanding of what’s been happening

  • A name for what they’ve been experiencing (when appropriate)

  • Insight into how their mind works, not just what’s “wrong”

  • Practical, tailored recommendations for what to do next

What makes us different?

3

At Beacon Hill Therapy, we take particular care in how we share results. You won’t receive a dense, confusing report and be left to interpret it on your own. Instead, we walk you through everything in a clear, thoughtful way, translating complex findings into language that feels intuitive and usable.

What is the process like?

Why choose Beacon Hill Therapy?

We’ve designed our process to feel structured, supportive, and easy to follow, even if this is your first time considering testing.

  1. Initial Consultation: We begin with a conversation to understand your concerns, goals, and history. From there, we recommend the most appropriate starting point—often a focused evaluation, rather than jumping straight into extensive testing.

  2. Evaluation & Testing: Depending on your needs, this may involve a clinical interview, questionnaires, or cognitive or academic tasks. Some evaluations are completed in a single session; others take place over several hours. Throughout, the experience is calm, collaborative, and thoughtfully paced.

  3. Analysis & Report: We carefully integrate all of the information gathered into a comprehensive understanding of your profile. This becomes a written report that documents findings and recommendations.

  4. Feedback & Next Steps: This is where everything comes together. We meet with you to explain your results in a way that is clear, grounded, and easy to understand, answering your questions and helping you think through next steps. Many people describe this as the most valuable part of the process.

At Beacon Hill Therapy, testing is not just about collecting data; it’s about making that data meaningful, understandable, and useful in your real life.

  • We tailor every evaluation to the individual

  • We prioritize clarity at every step

  • We take time to explain results in a way that truly makes sense

  • We focus on practical, actionable recommendations

Ours is a highly personalized, private-pay experience designed for individuals and families who value depth, discretion, and thoughtful care.
